The textbook On Track: English Skills for Success closely follows the recommendations made by the University Grants Commission for the Compulsory English syllabus at the undergraduate level. It has sections on prose, poetry, grammar and vocabulary, and communication skills, and it thereby offers a pedagogically comprehensive course in English.

The texts in the prose and poetry sections, representing different genres and themes, are aimed at strengthening the reading comprehension skills of students and giving them an opportunity to develop their literary sensibility and taste as well as their critical appreciation skills. The section on grammar and vocabulary is intended to raise students’ level of proficiency by making them more accurate, intelligible and, hence, confident when speaking and writing in English. Finally, the book includes a section on communication skills, which covers some relevant speaking and writing skills necessary for communicating fluently in the language in various situations.

The materials were developed in-house and approved by the members of the Board of Studies in English, Solapur University.
