The Book
Rikki-tikki-tavi is the story of a brave little mongoose who finds a home in a bunglow where Teddy lives with his parents. In the garden he confronts Nag and his wife, his sworn enemies. Helped by his friends Darzee and Chuchundra, he overcomes his formidable foes. This story is part of The Jungle Book and remains a great favourite.

Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay in 1865, where he spent his early childhood. He was sent to England for his schooling. He returned to India as an adult and his experiences in India have left a deep mark in his writings. He was the first Englishman to receive the Nobel Prize for literature (1907) and his contribution to English literature is considerable. Among his writings , The Jungle Book from which this story is taken remains a great favourite. He died in 1936.
