The Book
This collection of plays in English, in two volumes, is one of the only collections to be available in this genre. The plays that appear in these volumes are based on the fact that each one of them has been successfully performed on stage and that the issues tackled in them are relevant to us today in the postcolonial era we live in. They focus on history, culture, society and the politics in which postcolonial India lives and breathes, justifying the inclusion in a collection of its own. It depicts from start to finish how comfortable Indians have become with the English language and its use, and how these dramatists have made this language their very own. This second volume has plays by Gurcharan Das, Manjula Padmanabhan, Zubin Driver and Ramu Ramanathan.
