The Book
Gandhi Adhyayan is a textbook for the first year B.A. Honours concurrent course READING GANDHI Paper of University of Delhi.
The book being based on the syllabus requirements, covers three distinct areas:
- Study of Gandhi’s critiques, mainly by foreign scholars like Quentein Skinner and Terrence Ball (here the aim is to teach students how to take into account texual and contextual aspects while reading a text).
- A detailed discussion on Gandhi’s Hind Swaraj and
- Discussion on Gandhi’s socio-economic thoughts e.g. on untouchability and communal harmony.
Second edition contains three new chapters to fulfill syllabus requirements further - Gandhi ki Prasangkita[relevance of Gandhi]; Ek Vaikalpik Adhunikta [an optional modernity]; and Gandhi Chintan [reading Gandhi].
The book has 14 essays, one appendix, a bibliography and an index. The essays are mainly written by Delhi University teachers.
