Business Communication: Basic Concepts and Skills deals with the basic concepts and practices of communication and their applications in the business world today. The present-day global market demands employment-ready graduates with good communication skills. The book will help prepare students to meet this important requirement for jobs in the corporate world by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and technical know-how. The book uses a learner-centred approach to encourage and promote autonomous learning. It has exercises at the end of every chapter that reinforce the most important points taken up in it and also simple classroom activities to help initiate active learning based on real-life situations. The exercises have been designed to cater to the needs of mixed-ability classrooms. Written in a simple and clear style, the book focuses on the key aspects of communication in general and business communication in particular, using examples from everyday life, photographs and graphics to aid comprehension. It includes detailed discussions on different models and types of communication, intercultural communication, the relation between self-development and communication, the SWOT analysis, presentation skills, job application letters and resumes, and interview skills. The useful range of topics it covers makes Business Communication: Basic Concepts and Skills a comprehensive textbook for students of business communication.
