This textbook, specially prepared for undergraduate students of Osmania University, has sixteen units altogether in poetry, prose and drama. Each of the units begins with pre-reading activities that lead students into the lesson by tuning their minds to the theme of the text for study. They also include reading comprehension exercises and post-reading activities which sharpen the students’ hidden creative and innovative talents in addition to improving their understanding of the lesson. Each unit also includes language development activities that focus on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, speaking and writing to help students acquire accuracy in the language. In addition, each unit has a soft skills section which helps in personality development and interpersonal relations.
E. Suresh Kumar is Professor and Head, Department of English, Osmania University, Hyderabad, and Director, ELTC, Osmania University, Hyderabad. He has authored several books on English language teaching. He has visited several universities in the USA, the UK, the UAE, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Sri Lanka on special invitations. He is a resource person at the Andhra Pradesh Police Academy, the Central Detective Training School and academic staff colleges of various universities.
B. Yadava Raju is Professor of English, Osmania University, Hyderabad. His areas of research include postcolonial studies and English language teaching.
C. Muralikrishna is Professor of English, Nizam College, Osmania University, Hyderabad. English for specific purposes and American literature are his areas of expertise.
